Tobogganing is a classic winter activity that the whole family can participate in!
Here in Edmonton, we've got hills for all skill and comfort levels. Although it's safe to head out to the hills this winter, groups are prohibited, so you should remain 6 feet apart from other people you don't live with. You should also keep in mind that public restrooms remain open, but masks are mandatory upon entry.
Gallagher Park
9505 96 Ave NW
This park is a perfect place for those seeking a good thrill. Just minutes from our Cloverdale Hill Condominiums, this long steep hill is simply meant for a speedy sled ride. As one of the best hills in Edmonton, it can get busy and due to high speeds, helmets are suggested for kids of all ages. A portable washroom is available.
Emily Murphy Park
11904 Emily Murphy Park Rd NW
Minutes away from our Birchview Apartments, Emily Murphy Park offers a fun slope that's suitable for kids of all ages. Hay bales are set up at the base, so kids won't stray too far from the hill and restrooms are also available nearby. While the hill is steep at the beginning, it tapers off, so kids have ample time to slow down.
Whitemud Park North
13204 Fox Dr NW
Whitemud Park North offers a fun slope with parking right at the top of the hill. Residents of our Colonial Arms Apartments will find this hill just a short distance away. There are also stairs to help sledders climb back up the hill. Restroom are available nearby at this location as well.
Magrath Heights Park
243 Magrath Blvd NW
Magrath Heights Park in Southwest Edmonton, a few minutes from our Summerfield Townhomes, has two hills to choose from. There's a steep hill for confident riders and a smaller hill for younger kids to enjoy. You'll also find a playground and the Rabbit Hill Nature Area at the top of the hill, so if the kids tire of sledding, you can go exploring.
Always remember to check current hill conditions before heading out for the day. Some hills may close due to unsafe conditions.
