Vacations are overrated... Why not plan a Staycation in Edmonton?

A staycation is when you vacation in your own city and visit nearby attractions instead of travelling abroad. Many people choose this option because it's inexpensive, easy to plan, and relatively stress free.

Here in Edmonton, there are so many great destinations to visit that creating a staycation is easy! Ayre & Oxford have some exciting Edmonton adventures for you to try out.

Staycations are a great way to relax and rejuvenate, and what's better than relaxing in nature? Here in Edmonton, nature adventures are all around us. At the Muttart Conservatory you can tour the Canada 150 Anniversary Pyramid or take a guided tour through any of the conservatory's pyramids. There are also adult courses, drop-in programs, and fun activities for children.

After a relaxing start, it's time to fit in some excitement! The West Edmonton Mall attracts millions of tourists each year, why not join in? This one attraction acts like several different vacation destinations with its many different features, like a waterpark, aquarium, skate park, amusement park, an indoor lagoon, ice rink and more!

You can't have a staycation without great food! This is the time to dine out at restaurants and cafés that you have been wanting to try or ones that you might not know of, but are highly rated! If you're looking for something outside of the city, we highly suggest heading to Fort Saskatchewan to visit The Downtown Diner. Enjoy a great meal, grab a milkshake to go, and then explore some of the city's great trails before heading home.

For those times when the weather doesn't co-operate and your day is rained out, head to the IMAX Theatre at Telus World of Science. Watch a great movie in stunning 3D then spend the day touring the amazing exhibits. This place always has some great events throughout the year as well.

Finally, end your stayacation by unwinding at one of the most beautiful places in Edmonton, the University of Alberta Botanic Garden. Go for a tram ride around the main garden, have a picnic lunch, then let the kids try the hedge maze or explore the castle in the garden. Don't forget your camera, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and of course a picnic lunch!

Here at Ayre & Oxford we hope you have a fabulous summer!
